I took a little trip... almost 500 miles.
I started out leaving town on Saturday morning. My plan was to stop, feed my sons animals, and then continue on to my daughters house for the afternoon and evening, then I would stay the morning and leave by noon. I did do all of that and went back to my sons house for the evening. I ordered myself a pizza and settled in for the night. I enjoyed my quiet time and relaxed. But then my sister text me and she was in the hospital, again. She was going to need an emergency pace maker put in and then a permanent one the next day. Her dog was home alone with someone just checking on her, but not there all day. So I decided since I was already pretty close that I would drive there so, luckily my daughter was able to come over to my sons house and keep everyone fed and alive (we'll talk about that later)... So I went on to my sisters house, I got there at about six in the evening and settled in, eating my left over pizza for dinner. My evening was spent on the phone with various family members letting them know the news. I spent the next day just relaxing. I went across the road twice, once to get some soda, and I found some really nice, cheap pens at Dollar General. I already had some paper in my car. So I spent the morning drawing, then I went across the street to get a burger and fries. The first meal I had since Saturday night. I was very hungry. I relaxed, and spent the rest of the day on the phone, and drawing and watching videos.
Everything went good for my sister and she was home on Wednesday, so in the morning I cleaned up her place, then I went out exploring. I went to the Bosque Redondo Memorial Site, after that I went to the Fort Sumner Town Cemetery. I took some photos, then I headed back to my sisters place. I had to let the dog out and feed her a snack. Then not too much longer and my sister came home. I stuck around for about an hour then I left at 2 pm. I took the back roads all the way home. I don't like to drive fast. And I want to stop by the salt lakes called, Laguna Del Perro. I want to go back and get photos of the sunset there. I can imagine the colors reflecting off the salt lakes. It's such a different place.
Such a beautiful place. After this photo I continued my journey home using the back route. US-60, to NM-41, to NM-55- then to NM-337. All of that to avoid some construction on I-40. Also to avoid driving with a bunch of big trucks and craziness.
I stopped at a cemetery in Fort Sumner on my last day there, I was intrigued by the amount soil that had built up since that fence was originally installed. Even the gate was no longer able to open because of the soil.
I got to see some antelope, they spread out just perfect for a photo, don't you think? The only thing I wish I could change is the white sky! Washed out, no blue at all. Such a bummer.
